Independent Advocates provides presentations to young people in junior highs and high schools and through community programs. Presentations range from hour long presentations to multi-session groups. Independent Advocates is proud to introduce the Leadership in Violence Prevention Program made possible with a grant provided by the Women’s Initiative of United Way.

The Leadership in Violence Prevention program is designed to engage youth ages 13-19 in anti-violence activism through a multi-disciplinary approach that seeks to raise cultural awareness about violence against women and abuse in relationships. Participants in this program will form a collective of young minds and talents that will develop new and different ways to think about dating violence prevention. The collective will research various forms of media including music, magazines and film, examples of intimate partner violence in history and literature and existing dating violence prevention materials. The goals of the program are to increase participants’ awareness of abuse in relationships and produce a model teen dating violence prevention curriculum.
